Campaign for 20,000

On January 14, Tom initiated his Campaign to directly involve at least 20,000 citizens in his campaign through a grass-roots small-contribution opportunity.

Tom believes it is better to receive a lot of small contributions than a few large ones (not that larger donations aren’t welcome), but when you rely solely on large contributors, fewer people have a stake, fewer people have the opportunity to get involved and fewer people “have skin in the game!”

So, for those who have not contributed because they didn’t think that $25 would make a difference, here is your opportunity! No donation is too small when you are giving because you believe that the fight for our country is worth some sacrifice.

Help Tom to be your voice for a new attitude in government.

Each and every citizen has a duty and a right to be involved in the process. Help Tom return the concept of “citizen legislator” to the language of Congress

MAKE YOUR CONTIBUTION NOW!

It will be a long, hard battle to take back our government. There are many obstacles to overcome. In the spirit of the 9-12 March on Washington, there is strength in numbers, the issues cross traditional party lines, and we will need help from Republicans, conservative Democrats and open-minded Independents to make it happen in our district. If the left thinks change was coming last fall, they haven't seen anything yet. Just wait...

Then, again, they can wait...we can't. We are actively seeking people to help with our campaign in a number of ways in all 20 counties, and, of course, there is always the need for financial support to get the signs made, the brochures printed, the gasoline for travel and dozens of other things needed to take OUR message to the district.  We say OUR message because he has offered to be your representative but he is reading your desire to have a candidate representing you that shares your belief in the basic goodness of our Constitution, our country, our freedom, and our lives.  In order to preserve these things, we must move toward a more educated and enlightened approach to voting.  Citizens need to question, to probe, to examine in advance of the election to find the candidate that reflects their principles.  In furtherance of that effort, we have posted a preliminary list (PDF) of issues and his positions on those issues.

Note particularly, that there will be some trade-offs in accepting this approach to representing you and the district. The blade cuts both ways. The new mind-set cannot be to ask him what he can "bring home" that will help this district if what is sought is not within the power of the Congress under the Constitution. That is PORK-BARREL legislation and that is exactly what we have been hearing that people do not want.

If we truly want to take back our government from the so-called special interest money groups, what we must expect is protection from intrusive and expensive government, and freedom to live our lives up to the potential we are capable of attaining.  We must also expect that representatives do what they are mandated to do - follow the Constitution and do what is best for the entire country as a whole - within the limits of their enumerated powers leaving the rest to the states and to the people.

That having been said, if there ever comes a time that constituents come to him with a concern that should be handled at the state level rather than the federal level, he will let them know why he cannot directly impact the issue. You will have an advocate to help find the right people to handle the matter and those that can try to get it done for you at the appropriate level.

As time passes, when we are successful in achieving the goal of getting sufficient representatives elected across America that are willing to honor their oath to preserve, protect and defend, the Constitution (AS IT IS WRITTEN, not as it is "interpreted" by today's progressives and liberal judges), we will be able to drastically reduce the size of government, taxes, and intrusions into our lives by the people in Washington.

This is what true representation is all about.

Enduring Principles Underlying This Campaign

"It behooves you, therefore, to think and act for yourself and your people. The great principles of right and wrong are legible to every reader; to pursue them requires not the aid of many counselors. The whole art of government consists in the art of being honest. Only aim to do your duty, and mankind will give you credit where you fail."
--Thomas Jefferson,
A Summary View of the Rights of British America,
1775

"In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."
--Thomas Jefferson
